Safe Haven

Based off of another number one selling book by Nichols Sparks, Safe Haven was a huge hit as movie also. It shows the struggle one girl faces to erase her horrific past and move on with her life with a clean slate.  When Katie moves to a small town in North Carolina she is scared to get close with the community because she is afraid they will bring up questions about her past.  Katie slowly is about to start putting roots down by getting a job and buying a small house that is far away from everyone with no neighbors for miles around. After meeting Alex, a widowed father of two, at his small store they slowly start to build a relationship together and this is when this past she was worried about starts to come back up. She is forced to tell Alex the truth about her past any why she just picked up and left her old home with nothing. She must rely on true love and hope for forgiveness that her and Alex can make it through the hard time together. Through the whole journey Katie has met a mysterious friend herself to help her through the hard parts.

I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet. Though it may be a love story it is a story that will pull on the strings of your heart.

  2. I think this movie portrays a strong message for domestic violence. Being corrections major and learning about domestic violence in my classes, this movie creates a real life picture of the struggle of domestic violence. Yet it is nor degrading to the male or female. The female in this movie struggles with the violence of a negative male figure but gets through it with her strength. She encounters a positive male figure. Therefore it is showing that not all men are the same and not all women are weak. Domestic violence is a very complicated struggle faced by people all around the world.

  3. This movie is one of the best I've seen in a long time. It keeps you interested the entire time because everything is so unexpected. In the beginning, we had no idea why she was running from that man and then throughout the whole movie it led up to the real reason. Her ex husband was abusive and an alcoholic and used violence towards her which is why she needed to get away and never go back. She ended up finding true love and it's definitely a tear jerker. I loved the ending and I agree that it pulls on the strings of your heart. I also would encourage everyone to watch this movie because it has a great message. I enjoyed this movie and your blog!
