Lone Survivor

The greatest movie, Lone Survivor, is based on a book and then made into a movie that came out on December 25th, 2013. Featuring Mark Walhberg as the Lone Survivor and his other cast members are Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster, and Emile Hirsch. Lone Survivor is based on a true story of heroism, courage and survival. “Lone Survivor tells the incredible tale of four navy seals on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level al-qaeda operative who are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains of Afghanistan.” This movie was a life changing view of the wars. My father went over to Iraq for twenty-two months his first tour and fifteen months his second tour. People have no clue what it is like over seas until you see a movie that is based on a true story.

The making of a movie is important to the producers and for viewers. Multiple things producers have to think about is what the main purpose of the movie will be. Producers need to ask themselves a couple questions; is this movie worth watching, what will be the word on the street about the movie, and how many viewers can we get? Lone Survivor was a real movie and when I saw it in theaters I felt like I was there in Afghanistan. The movie is not completely the same as the book because they want to sell the movie so they add more action packed scenes. The trailer on youtube for Lone Survivor had 7,859,118 views.

I personally really enjoyed this movie. It is one of my favorites because I was able to have a feeling of what my dad went through and no very many people actually know what war is like. Yes people Thank them but they have no clue what war does to their emotions, sociability, and physical health. My dad had to have knee surgery because he tore ligaments from running. The Navy Seals and anyone in the Military learn lessons that someone who isn’t in the military will never be able to understand. Decisions that no one wants to make from the life threatening battles to save a life because military men are a family of one.

  1. I saw this movie in theaters and absolutely LOVED it. It was such a powerful movie and was so interesting to me. I had no idea it had even happened a few years ago, so doing some research on it and going to see it when it came out was really exciting for me. I don't have any family members in the military but seeing this to that extent really makes you so grateful for everything you have. It makes the little daily struggles seem like nothing compared to what they are dealing with over there constantly. This movie had such an unbelievably big impact on my life and makes me want to continue to thank everyone who serves for our country and to do more for them. It was really great to see how much they would do for one another and the strong sense of family that is throughout the military.

  2. I would really like to see this movie after watching the trailer and seeing your review. I think it would really be cool to watch considering by grandpa fought in World War 2. Some people just don't appreciate what people in the military actually do for us and this movie looks like a great way to show people just what these brave men and women do for us daily to keep up safe in our houses. I could also see this being touching and relatable to people who actually currently have family or friends in the military.
