Movie Review of Bad Grandpa

This weekend I finally had the opportunity to see Bad Grandpa. Bad Grandpa is a comedy about 86-year-old Irving Zisman and his 8-year-old grandson Billy. Irving is taking Billy on a road trip back to his father in North Carolina, because his mother was thrown in jail and no one else could take care of Billy. Irving may look like any other grandpa, but he does not act like one. Irving acts more like a naughty kid than a 86-year-old man. Irving also does not care what other people think of him. On their road trip, Irving and Billy get into all kinds of trouble. They do everything from crashing into a road sign, to stealing food from a convenience store, to entering Billy in a beauty pageant  as a girl. On the entire trip Irving pretends not to like Billy that much. By the end of the road trip when they finally meet up with Billy’s dad, Irving does not want to let him go. The long car ride and crazy situations they got into brought Irving and Billy closer together.

At the end of the movie it was revealed that the movie was secretly filmed in public. All of the reactions of the people who witnessed Irving and Billy’s adventures were genuine. They did not know that they were being filmed and some of the reactions were really funny! I really liked this movie,it was weird, but it made for a good laugh. However, I do not foresee Bad Grandpa winning any awards anytime soon.

  2. I haven't yet seen this movie, but I've heard a lot about it! I found that older adults who watched it didn't seem to care for the movie too much, but young adults thought that it was absolutely hilarious. Your blog makes me anxious to see the movie. Just by watching the trailer I already know that I'll be in for a good laugh like you mentioned. I thought that it was interesting that no one knew that they were being secretly filmed and I can only imagine how priceless their reactions were. This movie is obviously intended for people of 18 years or older because of the crude language and the actions that were displayed so I agree with your prediction of Bad Grandpa probably not winning any kind of award in the near future. This blog has me anxious for it to be the weekend so I can finally rent it, if not buy it! I really enjoyed your blog and it helped me have a better understand of what the movie is really about coming from someone who saw it recently. Great blog!
