Elf is a very funny comedy movie made for people of all ages. It takes place in New York and is based on an elf, named Buddy, who is born and unfortunately his mom is quick to pass away so he was sent to live in an orphanage. Well, on Christmas Eve as Santa had stopped by the orphanage, little Buddy had escaped his crib when Santa wasn’t looking and crawled into Santa’s bag full of toys. As Santa arrived back at the North Pole and set his bag down, Buddy came crawling out and everyone was very shocked. They ended up keeping Buddy and raising him to do what all the other elves did which was make toys. As he became older he wondered why he was a lot different than all the other elves. So, he talked to his “dad” and received bad news, he was not a real elf after all. After hearing that, he decided that he was going to travel to where his real dad lives and see the life he is supposed to be living and finally fit in.
I personally enjoyed this movie because it was very funny to watch the different adjustments he had to make when he was in the real world. They were very difficult for him because it was totally different from living the life of an elf. Many of the difficult/odd situations Buddy experienced were normal day things that we do everyday and I could never imagine seeing someone act how he does seen how he is a middle aged man, thinking it’s normal. For instance, him running around the city wearing an elf outfit telling everyone he is Buddy the elf. He did all sorts of goofy things which is why the movie was so entertaining.
I think this movie is targeted for younger kids and teens because it talks a lot about the true meaning of Christmas and doesn’t break the news to anyone that Santa isn’t real. This movie is full of laughter and I would recommend it to any age.
