Captain Phillips Movie Review

Captain Phillips, based on a true story, is one of the absolute best action thriller movies that I have seen so far. The movie is based on Captain Phillips and his crew members sailing around the boarder of Africa in a cargo ship that gets hijacked by Somalian pirates and holds Captain Phillips hostage. The reason they hold him hostage is because they need money. Captain Phillips offers the 3 pirates $30,000 which had been all of the money that was on the ship. The pirates refused to accept the offer because they wanted much more than that. In fact, they wanted $10,000,000. The pirates end up searching the ship to find the hidden crew members that Captain Phillip's insisted to keep in hiding. With one of the pirates getting injured from stepping in glass that a crew member had intentionally laid out, the crew members begin to trick the pirates and they begin to regain control of the ship once they make a deal to give them the $30,000 and a lifeboat that would take the pirates back to Somalia. Tables turn when the Captain shows them how to run the lifeboat. They hold Phillip's at gunpoint, and from then on he is their hostage in the lifeboat and the crew members and United States government will do everything in their power to have the captain return safely.

Throughout this entire movie I was always wondering what was going to happen next. I personally thought that it was very suspenseful. I enjoyed this movie very much and I love how the suspense always had me on edge with what the outcome of the movie would be. Rather it being the captain being released or else the pirates killing him. There was a lot of action throughout the movie that caught everyone's attention. The movie not only had me hopeful that Phillip's would make it out alive, but it also had me very anxious what the ending was going to be with all of the violence that was taking place in the lifeboat.

Overall, after watching this movie I would say that it's a must-see. When the ship first sets sail, neither the crew members nor the captain knew what they were in for. With the Somalian's being so desperate for money, they were determined that holding the captain hostage would get them the millions of dollars that they had intended to get from the United States. I would have to say that this movie is intended for teenagers and adults considering that this movie contains a lot of violence and some inappropriate language. This was a very interesting movie and I would recommend it to adults and teenagers that are at a mature age.
