Justin Bieber DUI Arrest: Pop Star Out on Bail

Celebrities nowadays are setting bad examples for the younger population. Instead of being role models for pre-teens and teenagers to look up to, they are becoming negative influences. Some do it for the attention and some do it just because they think they can get away with it since they are famous. One celebrity name that has been in the news a lot recently is Justin Bieber. On January 23rd, Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach after leaving a local night club. He was charged with a DUI, driving with an expired license, and for resisting arrest. Miami Beach police stated that Bieber was drag racing his rented yellow Lamborghini against a friend when they came upon him. Bieber failed a sobriety test at the scene, and he admitted to consuming alcohol, prescription drugs and smoking marijuana. He was arrested and his bail was set at $2,500.

Is this the type of person you would want your future children to look up to? Chances are, probably not. In my opinion, Justin Bieber is not an acceptable role model for anyone. He has had minor run-ins with the law prior to this incident. His song lyrics are inappropriate, and so are many of his music videos. I also don’t agree with how Justin treats women. I think that he sees women as objects instead of as people, and his lyrics confirm this. On top of all that, Bieber now uses drugs and drinks underage, which adds more negativity to his image. Our generation should have respectable, law abiding celebrity role models to look up to instead of drug using, inappropriate role models such as Justin Bieber.

  1. I really admire how honest you were throughout this blog. I not only agree with the statements that you made, but I also like how you asked the question, "Is this the type of person you would want your future children to look up to?" I think that is a really good point to make and a huge eye-opener for parents/future parents. I know I would not want my future child to look up to someone who drinks underage, smokes marijuana and so on, and is still portrayed as somewhat of a role model by the media. I would not want someone that makes bad decisions to be my child's role model, especially a young and famous pop star that people want to look up to. I also keep in mind that no one is perfect, therefore everyone makes mistakes, but I wouldn't consider Justin Bieber a role model after his DUI arrest. I thought this story was very eye-opening and interesting and I think that some people will reconsider what the true meaning of a role model really is. I enjoyed your blog!

  2. I agree with your blog 110% but you cannot forget the fact that he is just a teenager, just like us, but he just happens to be famous one. I hate Justin Bieber more than anyone in the world and I cannot believe I am defending him right now, but who are we to judge him? What does that say about us? Nearly almost every artist out there have similar lyrics to his and what famous teenage actually treats a woman the right way? They are boys, come on give the kid a break. Men are changing, they like their options, its their own faults and it is also the women's fault. They put themselves in those types of situations. Justin Bieber has a tremendous amount of pressure on him every second of every day, how would you feel? Every action, every word being twisted and turned around to try and make you look bad. Have you ever stopped and thought that maybe, just maybe, this might be his way of reaching out for help or something? Justin is his own person, his mistakes are his own, not ours. This is exactly what is wrong with our society today, we are all so caught up in everyone else's lives that we forget what is really going on around us. Have you seen the news about global warming and politics recently? Who gives a crap about Justin? Let him do his own thing and you do yours. How he lives his life is entirely up to him, not us..

Sorry for my rant, but everyone has their own opinion. I hope I did not offend you in any way and if I did, please don't take it personally.

  3. The thing that bothers me about him getting I DUI was the way he handled it, I understand he is still a teenager and we all make mistakes but he acted as like it was all a joke to him. After being caught drinking and driving over the legal limit when he is not old enough to be even drinking he then resists arrest. In his mug shot he is smiling ear to ear like it is funny to him, when he could have easily taken someones life. His fans then go on twitter and post free Bieber and stick up for him which to me is a slap in the face to anyone who as ever lost someone in a drinking and driving accident. All of the things that he is done makes it so hard for me to understand how he could be someones role model.

  4. I love this blog because it shows how celebrities sometimes make a full of themselves in the pretext of trying to gain attention and to me justin attitude here is a bad exampl to our teenagers today. It also shows that the faster you want reach the top e quicker you fall and this is what seems to be happening to justin bieber.
